Oh The Places You'll Go: Monkey and Mom Take A Trip
Monkey had been asking for awhile if she and I could take a trip, just the two of us. We found a week when Buds could be at home with the Littles, and we headed over to Wilderness Of The Smokies, an indoor waterpark we have enjoyed before.
What a restful treat it was for both of us to have time to visit as we chose, read books side-by-side, play and splash and shriek (that was mostly me), and make those connections to carry us through the coming years. I’m so glad she wanted to do this, and that we were able to make it happen.
We had a great time painting pottery. I chose a simple mug, and Monkey went for an intricate, beautiful fairy. She tackled it with ease, except for the face, which we will laugh about for years.
Here are the projects, finished product first:
In addition to the waterpark, we also had unlimited passes to the 3-story ropes course, ten-pin bowling, rock climbing, a crazy bouncing frog, and a lazer maze.
I did the bouncy frog, and shrieked every time:
And then there was the ropes course. We had seen this on our previous visit, and it looked inviting and interesting to me. I was sure I would LOVE it! Looks can be deceiving.
The first day we roamed all over the first level, and tried out the top level. I had heart palpitations on the top level, so I stood in one spot and watched Monkey. Both of us got more comfortable as time progressed, and I look forward to trying it again, but it was much more of a test than I expected.
The crew at home had a good time, and Monkey and I had a good time, and being home was great, too.
