A Little Break
We had the honor and pleasure of spending the night at cousins’ house while Aunt A and Uncle Z went out of town for the day and night to celebrate their wedding anniversary. Buds and I had the chance to see what having 6 children would be like, which was fun. With this group of children, it was easy peasy.
Z and A left around noon on Saturday, so we played around the house, then went swimming for a couple hours. We had the pleasure of meeting up with some of Z and A’s friends at their pool, and it was great to visit with them.
Then back to the house for more playing, dinner, baths, and bedtime.
I was pondering out loud to Buds (as I always ponder) about how soothing I have always found Z and A’s homes. It was the same with their home in NOVA. When I sat with their children at night, it always felt so peaceful, and I got so much reading or work completed after their crew was settled into bed. Of course, their house is beautiful, and large, and comfortable, and wonderfully clean, but I felt like there was still something I was missing.
Then I realized it. It’s because at their house I have no projects or laundry staring me in the face. If I want to clean the kitchen or fold towels, I can, but if I don’t, no one cares. It’s the same thing at Kelly and Paula’s, or Todd and Gina’s, or when we stay with my mom. I find much more peace in their homes than I do in our own.
Much to ponder with that realization, and obviously some work to do, but suffice it to say that we had a great time with cousins, and Happy Anniversary to A and Z.
