A Parable Is...
We had a guest lecturer at church on Sunday, as we do on two Sundays each month. This week it was A.J. Levine, and she was witty, insightful, and interesting.
She spoke about two parables from the New Testament: The Lost Sheep and The Lost Coin. She explained how they have been interpreted in a backwards way, but that isn’t the part that struck me.
She said, “A parable is a concerto…not a case study.”
She also said: The Bible has to be reinterpreted and re-imagined with each new age, otherwise it is just dead text.
Lots to ponder in those two thoughts.
